Work on Lagoon Plaza Towers nearing completion
The Lagoon Plaza Towers, also known as Zigzag Towers, are due for completion by the end of this year, after the minor hurdles that the project was facing.
The $330mn worth freehold property which commenced works in February 2006 was due for completion in June 2008, but problems in acquiring raw materials had delayed the project.
The twin-towers, standing high at 143m, are also being called the tallest zigzag structures in the world. The towers required large quantity of glass. Now the towers have green-tinted glass on the outside. Two companies in Europe are currently supplying the custom-made glass for this purpose.
Almost all the skeleton works for both towers are complete, except the roof services and waterproofing for the bathrooms and wet areas in kitchen, ceramic tiling in the kitchens and bathrooms, and dining and flat corridors, false ceilings and other fixtures, too, nearing completion.
According to officials, lot of effort and hard work are being put into the project, which will be ready in December for handover. The towers are also called as “dancing towers”, due to their wave-like structure. Comprising a total of 748 luxury apartments spread across 34 residential floors, they include studio, single, double and triple bedroom units.
Most of these apartments, except the triple bedroom apartments, have already been booked by investors from the Middle East, GCC, India and Europe. The three bedroom apartments have been priced at QR3.1mn. These apartments facing the West Bay lakes are in proximity to Doha Golf Club, the beaches, the Diplomatic Club. The amenities within the towers include landscaped gardens, covered garage, spa, video intercom, beach club, gymnasium, security, sauna, steam room, temperature-controlled swimming pool, Jacuzzi, speed lifts, club house, shopping mall, cafes, restaurants and others. An official at the Lagoon Plaza has confirmed that the work on the plaza is progressing smoothly. The shopping center includes a basement, ground floor and a retail floor.
