QDB completes second phase of housing project

The Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has completed its second phase of free pre-cast housing project in Al-Duhail locality, the Ministry of Social Affairs in Qatar revealed.

The houses have been allocated for orphans, people with special needs and the elderly. The QDB began construction of houses as scheduled, and this project reflects the keenness of QDB to cater to the needs of all segments of Qatari society.


According to QDB CEO, Mansour bin Ibrahim al-Mahmoud, QDB supports the National Strategy for social development, and is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 issued by HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.


Al-Mahmoud said that QDB has monitored the construction of 100 villas owned by Ministry of Social Affairs, Department of Housing, meant for people with special needs, which include 65 villas at Al-Duhail and 35 in other parts of Doha. The villas have been built to high standards, with the project being delivered in three phases.


QDB’s efforts to deliver the second and last phase as scheduled, forms a part of the strategy framework of the government to offer decent amenities for Qatari families, so as to help them contribute actively in reinforcing the economic diversification, Al-Mahmoud pointed out.


Further, QDB is the first Bank in Qatar to implement the project, following establishment of the Engineering Project Department (EPD). The work on the first phase began on 15th June. Phase three constitutes the last phase constituting 33 villas, will be delivered by 15th December 2011.
