Al Thumama Stadium is all set to host the Amir Cup final. The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) emphasized the readiness of Al Thumama Stadium to open more than a week prior to hosting the 49th Amir Cup final on 22nd October, while marking the inauguration of the venue, which will host matches during the Arab Cup 2021 and FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The SC accompanied the media on a tour to explore all the facilities in the stadium. During the tour, the Chief of Tournament Experience at SC, Khalid Al Mawlawi, and the Al Thumama Stadium Project Engineer, Eng. Mohammad Khalil Al Abdullah, explained the preparations to host the Amir Cup final.
The cooling system in the stadium will ensure an ideal atmosphere for players and visitors all through the year, and the unique lighting system in the stadium is another noteworthy feature.

Al Mawlawi said that Al Thumama Stadium is an architectural and sports masterpiece that represents the splendour of Qatari and Gulf heritage.
“Through this inspection tour, we wanted to highlight all the construction and engineering details to media representatives a few days before its official inauguration,” he said.

Al Mawlawi further said that all sports fans in Qatar, both residents and nationals will reserve their seats and participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Al Thumama Stadium. He noted that several mass events will be held in the Fan Zone in the vicinity of the stadium, apart from official presentation that will precede the final match.

According to Fatma Al Nuaimi, Communications Executive Director at SC, opening of Al Thumama Stadium more than a year prior to World Cup indicates the extend of Qatar’s commitment to the timetable for completing the facilities of the tournament.

Al Thumama Stadium is compatible with all FIFA standards and conditions for World Cup Stadiums, with a local heritage character that embodies the interdependence between Qatar’s present and its bright future as one of the most prominent global sport capitals, Al Nuaimi said.

Further, media persons were briefed on the facilities of the VIP and guest hall, apart from changing rooms of teams playing their matches in the World Cup Stadium, which were fully prepared to receive players and their technical equipment.
