The Doha Film Institute (DFI) is inviting submissions to the ‘Youth Animation Workshop’ aimed at preparing young participants interested in stop-motion animation. The workshop will be held at katara cultural village from 30 June - 6 July.

Young filmmakers interested in stop-motion animation stand to benefit from Doha Film Institute’s (DFI) ‘Youth Animation Workshop’ scheduled from 30 June 2019 - 6 July. The workshop, which is now open for submissions, aims to prepare young participants to create professional films. It is open for beginners, in the age group of 8 to 14, assuring each participant gets individual attention.
Inspired by a presentation of short stop-motion animated films, theoretical discussions and practical exercises, participants will make their own one-minute animated film.
During this animation workshop, young participants will have a hands-on introduction to the different techniques required for creating and producing stop-motion animated films. Participants will learn the tricks and techniques of animation and gain a deeper appreciation of the art of storytelling.
Participants will be introduced to the various stop-motion techniques in the workshop, and to the classical three-act storytelling formula to help them generate ideas, develop characters and create compelling plots. Participants will work in groups and will be provided with concrete examples. All participants will contribute to making a one-minute short animated film by the end of the workshop.
