Qatar has updated its COVID-19 Green List of countries it considers low-risk in terms of coronavirus exposure. It now has 17 countries residents and citizens can travel to — six fewer than before the update.
Travellers arriving from a low-risk country will be able to choose home quarantine for a week after arriving. Anyone coming from a country not on the list must quarantine at a government-approved hotel for a week, and then at home for another week.
The list does not feature India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh or the Philippines — countries that are home to some of the biggest expatriate communities in Qatar — but has 10 Asian countries, including China, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia.
The list of low-risk countries will be reviewed every two weeks. If there are accredited COVID-19 testing centres in one of these low-risk countries, obtaining a COVID-free certificate from one of these centres exempts the traveller from taking the test at the airport upon arrival in the country, only if the date of obtaining the certificate does not exceed 48 hours before traveling.
