Starting April 4, Qatar education authorities have suspended in-person attendance at all the country’s universities, schools due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.
Educational institutions will switch to distance learning as of next Sunday. Teachers and administrative staff will continue to show up at schools while examinations will be conducted in person for students of all education levels, the education ministry said.
The shift comes in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health as part of precautions to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Ministry added.
Qatar has recently tightened restrictions to curtail COVID-19. Last week, authorities announced closing recreational centres and reducing capacity of shopping centres and cinemas.
