The Ministry of Public Health said in the new travel and return policy of Qatar that people who have been vaccinated with a Qatar-approved vaccine will be granted exemption from quarantine for 12 months, starting 14 days after the required number of doses. Previously, the validity was nine months.
Qatar has so far approved five vaccines — Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Oxford-Astrazeneca/Covishield, Janssen/Johnson&Johnson and Sinopharm.
While J&J is one-shot vaccine, the others follow a two-dose regimen. Sinopharm only has conditional approval, which means travellers fully-vaccinated with it will be subject to an antibody test on arrival.
If the result is positive with antibodies, they are exempt from quarantine. If not, the traveller must undergo applicable quarantine based on country of departure.
