COVID infections in Qatar have risen to cross the 1,000 mark for the second time in four days, with authorities concerned warning against complacency in precautionary measures

Qatar recorded 1,217 new COVID-19 cases – 1,017 from within the community and 200 among travellers — in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Public Health said on Sunday.
The Ministry of Public Health also reported 591 recoveries. At present, six people are in ICUs and 102 are under acute hospital care. The active cases in Qatar reached 6,896 while the total recoveries jumped to 395,051.No new death linked to the virus was reported in the last 24 hours, leaving the total number of deaths so far at 680.
So far a total of vaccine doses given out has reached 7,278,429. Meanwhile, the competent authorities on Sunday referred 851 people to the public prosecution for not adhering to the precautionary measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in society. While 837 people were referred to the Public Prosecution for not wearing a mask, 14 people did not download the “Ehteraz” application.
The Ministry of Interior said, through its account on Twitter, based on the decision of the esteemed Council of Ministers and Decree-Law No (17) of 1990 regarding infectious diseases and the preventive and precautionary measures in place to limit the spread of the COVID-19, the competent authorities have referred a number of violators to the Public Prosecution.
The authorities appealed to the public to adhere to the precautionary and preventive decisions in force in order to preserve their safety and the safety of others from the spread of the coronavirus in society.
