The Eid festival in Lusail was a huge success, attracting over 500,000 visitors to enjoy the festivities. Due to popular demand, the Festival, which was supposed to end on Monday, has been extended until Friday.
The Eid holiday commemorates the end of Ramadan, a time of joy and celebration, and the Lusail festival has not been an exception. With a wonderful procession that includes heritage shows, carnival performances, international street art, and other events, the Festival has showcased the best of Qatari culture.
The family-friendly event was filled with traditional performances, carnival shows, international street arts, light and laser shows, and other family-focused activities.
Food carts and kiosks lined the streets as the sky of Lusail City sparkled every day at 10pm with spectacular fireworks and drone displays.
Throughout the days of the festival, the Lusail Boulevard was designated for pedestrians only, providing festival visitors with a unique opportunity to enjoy the festive atmosphere in one of the most famous tourist destinations in Doha.
The Eid Festival is a significant event for citizens and residents of Qatar, as well as numerous visitors from outside the country, as it marks the end of the month of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and spiritual reflection, offering a time for family and friends to come together, share meals and celebrate their faith.
Heritage has also played a role in the Festival, with events such as camel rides, falconry, and traditional Qatari sports. The traditional festivities have been a big hit with locals, residents and tourists as a great way for visitors to experience Qatar's traditional way of life. Other events at the Festival have included live music performances, food stalls, and children's activities.
The festival starts daily with a wonderful procession that includes traditional performances and dances. The carnival shows and international street arts are also part of the opening ceremony, which sets the tone for the rest of the festival.
The Lusail Boulevard is transformed into a lively marketplace, with vendors selling traditional clothing, jewellery and other goods, as well as food carts and kiosks offering a wide range of snacks, sweets and meals, including local Qatari cuisine and international foods.
One of the most memorable parts of the Eid Festival in Lusail is the light and laser shows. The city’s skyline is illuminated with colourful lights and mesmerising laser displays that create a magical atmosphere. These light shows are accompanied by music and sound effects, making it a truly immersive experience for festival-goers.
The fireworks and drone displays are another highlight of the Eid Festival in Lusail. Every night at 10pm, the Lusail City skylines come alive with a spectacular display of fireworks and drone shows. The colourful explosions and synchronised drone flights create a breathtaking spectacle that leaves visitors in awe.
