Qatar's Q3 real GDP up 5.6 percent quarter-on-quarter

According to the Planning and Statistics Authority, Qatar’s third-quarter GDP at constant prices is estimated at QR164.02 billion. This, however, represents a decline of 4.5 percent when compared with that of the same period last year.

However, the GDP at constant prices rose 5.6 percent quarter-on-quarter in the third quarter of 2020 as economic activities in wholesale and retail trade, and accommodation and food services posted double-digit growth.

The quarterly GDP at current prices in Q3 is estimated at QR127.84 billion. This represents a decrease of 19.9 percent against Q3 of 2019 but a jump of 9.6 percent when compared with that of the previous quarter.

Economic activities (at constant prices) in wholesale and retail trade, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles is estimated to have generated QR12.8 billion in the third quarter of 2020, 65.3 percent more than what was estimated for the second quarter. Accommodation and food services activities (at constant prices) is estimated to have generated QR1.29 billion in the third quarter period, 49.8 percent more than that in the second.
