MoI action against people for inciting tribal strife

Qatar's Ministry of Interior has taken action against three people for "inciting tribal strife" on social media.

"The Department of Combating Economic and Electronic Crimes at the Ministry of Interior has referred three suspects to the Public Prosecution after they committed crimes related to inciting tribal strife through social media. Affects the security and safety of society," the Ministry of Interior said in a tweet on Thursday.

The action comes after the relevant authorities gathered enough evidence on the suspects' social media activities, finding them liable for a criminal offense in accordance with the provisions of the laws in force.

The ministry called on users of social media platforms in Qatar to abide by the country’s laws, and not to offend any community within the society on tribal or racial grounds. It reminded the public that the cohesion and stability of the Qatari society was a responsibility of everyone.
