Shura Council denounces storming of Al-Aqsa

The Shura Council regular weekly session was held today in "Tamim bin Hamad Hall", under the chairmanship of Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.

At the start of the session, the Council condemned the Israeli Minister of National Security's incursion into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and considered it a provocation to the feelings of Muslims around the world, warning that the escalatory practices by the new government confirm the continuation of the systematic Israeli policy against the Palestinian people, their lands and sanctities.

The Shura Council affirmed that this policy impedes efforts to achieve peace, calling on the parliaments of the world to put pressure on their governments to condemn these practices, which are a violation of international law and United Nations resolutions, and are inconsistent with the most basic principles of human rights.

The Council also denounced the Israeli occupation army's storming of the city of Jenin, stressing that the continuous violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, amid this international silence, will only lead to more violence and undermine peace efforts.

The Council reaffirmed its position on the Palestinian cause, and the need for the brotherly Palestinian people to obtain all their legitimate rights, foremost of which is the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, stressing that this is a firm position of the Qatari people.

During the session, the Council approved a draft law on combating the concealment of the practice of commercial, economic and professional activities by non-Qataris in violation of the law, as amended, after reviewing the report of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee on it, and discussing the provisions of the draft law by Their Excellencies the members of the Council.
