The Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by the public transport security department, is carrying out exercises at Metro stations with the aim of raising readiness and identifying the measures taken to secure the railways.
General administration of civil defense, Qatar Railways Company (Rail), operator of the Doha Metro RKH and the ambulance service at Hamad Medical Corporation participated in the exercise.
Head of the department of public transport security Lieutenant Colonel Salem Sultan Al Nauimi said the department, since its inception, has been concerned with securing all public transportation in the country, including the Doha Metro, Lusail Tram and buses in a comprehensive manner, with the aim of raising the readiness of the workforce at these stations.
He said the exercises began last year and will be completed during this year, according to the same previous plan, and according to the specified timetables.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Thursday concluded a course on preventing attacks on buses and train cars, which was held by the ministry’s training institute in cooperation with the US Department of State’s Anti-Terrorism Assistance programme.
The goal of the course was to enhance participants’ ability to prevent attacks on buses and train cars. Director of the Department of International Cooperation Major General Engineer Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ansari said the aim was to equip officers with the latest techniques and technologies to achieve the desired outcomes of the course.
