Qatar has renewed its support for Somalia in various development projects and in creating job opportunities for young people.
Qatar will provide necessary help to enhance their security capabilities, and provide political support to ensure sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of the country.
This came in the statement of the State of Qatar delivered by Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Jawhara Al Suwaidi, at the 48th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, during an interactive dialogue with the independent expert on the situation of human rights in Somalia, under item (10) of the Council's agenda.
In the statement, she underlined the importance of the international community continuing to provide the necessary support and technical assistance to build the capacity of institutions in line with the priorities and needs identified by the Somali government, which will contribute to the implementation of Somalia's national and international commitments.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani held talks with his Somali counterpart Mohamed Hussein Roble, at the Amir Diwan on Tuesday.
During the session, they discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries and means of developing them in various fields, especially in the economic, commerce, air and maritime transport, culture and education, in addition to exchanging views on the most prominent issues of joint interest.
The session was attended by several Qatar ministers and Somali delegates who accompanied the prime minister.
