The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) has launched a series of workshops and demonstrations to celebrate the important role of traditional crafts in Qatar.
Taking inspiration from the objects on display in the museum galleries, the workshops focus on design and decorative patterns that are typical of local craftsmanship and integral to Qatari identity.
Qatari communities throughout history survived on the fishing industry. Fishermen designed and created resources to cater to the different methods of fishing such as Al-Maskar and Al-Hadhrah.
This course takes as its source of inspiration the traditional coastal marine crafts connecting to fishing. Using net, wire and other pliable materials, participants will create a range of decorative products.
