Qatar has once again proved itself as a country of choice for Foreign Investments by implementing various new laws and legal reforms. Recently the government announced about these legal reforms and laws which will soon be functional. After this announcement, Qatar is now looked at by foreign investors as an attractive investment destination.
Carlotta Colli, Italian embassy's Deputy Head of Mission said to Gulf Times on Sunday: “These reforms are opening up the Qatari market to various opportunities and are simplifying the business environment of the country for foreign investors.” He made this statement during a public press conference that was organised for announcing the ‘Back 2 Business' networking event. This popular event will be held on 6th November at Doha’s JW Marriott Marquis City Center.
Kathrin Lemke, who represents the German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar also said that it is a positive move by the government to implement these new laws. He particularly mentioned that this step would create an interesting climate for foreign investments. Now more foreign investors can access Qatar’s market easily and tap the investment opportunities.
Lemke emphasised saying, “We also see these reforms as‘very positive’… this is also one reason why we see this increase in interest among German companies that want to come and expand their businesses in Qatar.”
Palma Libotte, who is the Qatar chairperson for the Italian Chamber of Commerce, also expressed positive views about that these new reforms. He mentioned that these reforms will bring positive benefits to the business community and residents of Qatar alike.
Libotte further explained saying, “With Qatar’s fast-paced development, every occasion to gain insights on the market from professionals is relevant, and platforms such as the back 2 Business are appreciated for this reason”
The ‘Back 2 Business’ is the largest networking event held in Qatar for the last sixteen years. This event is attended by international business communities high-profile members from all over the world. The Italian Chamber of Commerce and the AHK are the main organisers of this event. Other members supporting this event are the Qatari Businessmen Association along with the French, American, Turkish, Canadian chamber of commerce and business councils. The Swedish community in Qatar also supports this grand event.
Libotte also said that the professionals attending this event every year are majorly executives, diplomats, decision-makers and renowned industry leaders from across the globe. The expected number of participants gathering for this event should be over 400 according to Libotte.
Colli further said: “The Embassy of Italy is pleased to see that‘Back 2 Business’ networking format has established itself over the years as a well-attended platform for connecting businessmen and help to turn business ideas into partnership. The reforms adopted by the State of Qatar and the perspective of the World Cup are tapping a great potential for trade and investment in many sectors, including agro-food, tourism and hospitality, waste management, logistics, digitalisation, and cybersecurity. The event offers the occasion to network with local and international partners and explores these opportunities.”
To his earlier statement, Lemke further added and said: “In the past two years, the Qatari government has undertaken enormous efforts to improve the investment climate and infrastructure for foreign investors, which also German companies can now benefit from and have easier access to the market. Also, and as part of the national diversification strategy, new sectors are evolving and have presented new business opportunities for international companies. With only two and a half years away from the 2022 FIFA World Cup, now is the right time to have a footprint in the country and our office is here to support the German business community with that. Libotte informed that Qatar’s largest online ticking platform, Q-tickets is selling the ‘Back 2 Business’ tickets. He further mentioned about the two renowned organisations, Qatar Airways and the Qatar Green Building Council is supporting this popular event.
