Health Ministry announces free flu vaccine for all in Qatar from tomorrow

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) have jointly launched the national influenza vaccination campaign today at the Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City.

The vaccine is safe for all over six months and will be available for free starting tomorrow at the PHCC Health Centres or at more than 40 private and semi-government facilities.

More than 500,000 will be vaccinated this season in the campaign which would continue until March 2021.

The Chair of National Health Strategic Group on Covid-19, Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal, together with the Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation, when speaking about the importance of flu vaccine, said “Taking the flu vaccine is more important this Taking the flu vaccine is more important this year amidst coronavirus pandemic, as both Covid-19 and flu have the same symptoms and getting co-infected with flu and coronavirus can lead to severe complications.”

He further said that there is a more effective vaccine for flu, but not for Covid-19, and hence, it is important for all to get vaccinated.
