Qatar makes re-entry process easier for travellers

28 November 2020

Aimed at easing travel restriction further, Qatar announced an automatic exceptional entry permit service for travellers who are departing and returning to Qatar. This decision will be effective since 29th November.

According to Government Communications Office, residents who are now in Qatar and wish to travel and return, will automatically receive an exceptional entry permit upon departure.

The resident, or their employer, can printout the exceptional entry permit from the Interior Ministry’s website at any point once the resident has departed Qatar.

The requests need not be submitted through “Qatar Portal” website any more. The permit will be available automatically made available on registration of the resident’s departure from Qatar.

The GCO said that the automatic exceptional entry permit service will however, not be available for residents who are outside Qatar at present. Such residents should still obtain the exceptional return permit through the Qatar Portal website in case they wish to return to Qatar.

The Quarantine period will be for one week upon arrival in Qatar, irrespective of the destination from where they arrived.

Home quarantine will be applicable to those coming under the Green List of the Public Health Ministry.

Hotel quarantine is mandatory for residents arriving from countries that are not under the Green List. The quarantine period for shared quarantine facilities will be two weeks.

According to these new procedures, a Covid-19 test will be done for those returning from travel upon arrival in Qatar if they haven’t had a test within 48 hours before travelling to Doha. The test should have been done at any of the accredited testing centres by the Ministry of Public Health. Thereafter, a second test will be done on the sixth day from the date of arrival. The status of Ehteraz app will remain yellow until the end of seventh day from the date of arrival.
