Qatar has announced shut down of all shops and bank branches in commercial complexes and shopping centres, except for food stores and pharmacies, apart from closing down part of Industrial Area for 14 days, to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The country’s High Committee for Crisis Management said that salaries would still be paid for employees working in the closed part of the area.
Qatar has a total of 442 infected cases so far, and has already closed down Mosques, ordered closure of bars, cinemas, banned entry of non-citizens, while schools will suspend football matches and other sporting events.
The barbershops and beauty salons will be closed, including their home services, and hotel and health club activities have been suspended until further notice.
Moreover, people coming to Qatar from any destination in the world will be quarantined immediately on their arrival for 14 days.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Central Bank has revealed that it would extend the loan period of all commercial firms by six months.
The statement suggests avoiding social gatherings should be completely avoided in Qatar over the next two weeks.
The role of individuals in spreading awareness and cancelling public events is in the best interest of public. People should realize the importance of staying home, and not leaving home just for essentials, and maintain social distancing whenever possible, particularly the elderly and people suffering from chronic diseases, the statement said.
