24 September 2021

Qatar has urged all footballers seeking to enter Qatar to participate in the World Cup 2022, to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Qatar has announced that anyone planning to attend the tournament to be held in November next year, should be double jabbed, and now, the same rule has been announced for the players too.

Qatar is likely to earn about $20billion being the host country for the games, and also from tourism and construction sectors.

The tournament is likely to be held from 21st November to 18th December 2022.

FIFA has responded to Qatar’s wishes by emphasizing its commitment to public health and safety.

A FIFA spokesperson further said “In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, Qatar as the host country provides necessary safeguard required to protect health and safety of all concerned in the competition.”

According to Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani although most countries are likely to get their nationals vaccinated by then, Qatar is still taking measures to ensure a successful event.
