Qatar grants grace period to expats for correction of legal status

The Interior Minister has announced a timeframe to correct legal status of expats who violate the provisions of law concerning entry and exit. The timeframe announced is from 10th October to 31st December 2021.

Expatriates who have violated the residency rules, family visit visa rule, or work visa rule, have been granted a grace period, and have been urged to submit a request for reconciliation to correct their legal status and avoid legal procedures.

The Interior Ministry revealed that requests for reconciliation can be filed between 1pm and 6pm.

During the said timeframe, all expats who have violated the law, or employers/hosts can approach the Search and Follow-up Department or any other services centers such as Mesaimeer, Umm Salal, Umm Sunaim, Al Wakra, and Al Rayyan.

A request to consider exemption from reconciliation amount, can be submitted, or its reduction based on provisions of the law.

The directive has been issued by the Ministry of Interior under the provisions of Law No.21 of 2015 regulating entry and exit of expats and their residence.
