The Qatar Golf Association has completed arrangements to begin the 36th WAGR Qatar Open Golf Amateur Championship, which begins tomorrow, and will last for three days.
The Championship will be held at Doha Golf Club involving participation of 108 players.
Among the participants are players of first Qatari golf team including the defending champion Ali Abdullah Al Shaharani, Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al Shahrani and Saleh Ali Al Kaabi, apart from some players of Qatari junior team who have qualified for the championship.
As for the tournament system, it is individual, the number of actual hits for all participants is calculated on the first day, and the second day, and best players (60 players) qualify to play for third and final day.
The winner of the tournament qualifies to play in the next edition of Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, which form part of the European Tour.
The Qatar Open Golf Amateur Championship is one of the oldest tournaments in Qatar, held for the first time in 1983. The Qatar Golf Association has since continued to establish the championship which is most reputed in the region.
