Qatar updates its covid19 travel and return policy

18 March 2022

The Ministry of Public Health in Qatar announced a new update on the Covid-19 travel and return policy to Qatar, which will get effective on 28th February, Monday 7pm Qatar time.

These updates coincide with the considerable decrease in the number of Covid19 cases across the country, and the successful vaccination campaigns against Covid19 in Qatar.

As part of the travel and return policy update to Qatar, the Health Ministry has amended the lists of countries classified as ‘risk categories’, rating them as green, red and exceptional red to Standard Health Measures and Red Health Measures.

As per the update, the countries in Red List are Bangladesh, Georgia, Egypt, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Jordan, Philippines and Sri Lanka.

Nationals coming from countries with standard health measures do not require a PCR test before coming to Qatar. If fully vaccinated or recovered, then they are exempted from quarantine and will have to take a Rapid Antigen Test within 24 hours of arrival.

Those unvaccinated, will have to submit a negative pre-travel PCR lab test result with validity of 48 hours from departure time at the country of origin, and will require 5 days of home quarantine and will have to do a PCR test within 24 hours of arrival, apart from Rapid Antigen Test on day 5 of home quarantine.

Residents from Red health measure countries, if fully vaccinated or recovered, should submit a negative pre-travel PCR lab result with validity of 48 hours from departure time and at the country of origin. They will need one day of hotel quarantine and Rapid Antigen Test on day 1 of hotel quarantine.

Those unvaccinated and coming from a Red List country, will have to submit a negative pre-travel PCR lab test result with validity of 48 hours from departure from country of origin, in addition to 5 days of hotel quarantine. They will also have to do the Rapid Antigen Test on day 5 of hotel quarantine.
Unvaccinated or non-immune visitors are not allowed entry.
