Third wave of Covid-19 on the rise in Qatar

The Head of Vaccination at the Health Ministry, Dr. Soha Al Bayat has announced that Qatar is currently seeing the beginning of the third wave of Covid-19.

People have been requested to take booster shots as majority of the cases referred to hospitals are either unvaccinated or are cases where people have completed two doses more than six months ago, and have not taken booster shots yet.

Al Bayat assured that no one has had to enter intensive care owing to side effects from taking the Covid19 vaccine in the first, second or booster dose.
Speaking to the media she said that patients who died last week are unvaccinated, while the patients who required intensive care did not take booster dose.

She also advised those with mild symptoms that it is safe for patient to remain under home isolation for first 5 days, and them move outside the room wearing mask and keeping social distance for another 5 days before they leave their home.

Al Bayat also said that rapid antigen test is 80 percent accurate and is available at all health centres.

As for the spike in covid19 cases, Al Bayat said that at present there were two groups, those who did not receive vaccination, including children, and those who took the second dose more than six ago.
