Al Rayyan Stadium is also known as Ahmed bin Ali Stadium. It is located in Al Rayyan, Qatar. This multi-purpose stadium was built in 2003. It is best known for Al-Rayyan Sports Club and Al-Kharitiyath Sports Club. Around 21,282 spectators can enjoy the matches in this beautiful stadium.
Now, Ahmed bin Ali Stadium gets renovate for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It is one of the stadiums in Qatar which will host the World Cup in 2022.

Renovation of the Stadium
The renovation is ongoing since 2016. This is done by Al-Balagh and Larsen & Tourbo. The main purpose behind the renovation was to increases the number of sets and to upgrade the stadium with the latest technology.
Seating capacity will be increased to 44,740 from 21, 282 and there will shade to all seats. If talking about the design, then it reflects a story of beautiful country Qatar. The glowing new façade, is made up of different patterns that aspects the characteristics of Qatar.
The patterns on façade symbolize the importance of family, beauty of desert, flora, and fauna, local and international trade. These patterns are geometric in shapes that often found in Islamic architecture.
Thus, the stadium reflects the tradition and history of the country. Further, the impressive intricacy also reflects the unique art produced in Qatar.
The structure of the stadium will protect fans against the weather elements. The lightweight canopy and hi-tech cooling systems, allows fans to enjoy the match with complete comfort.
Sustainability of Al Rayyan Stadium
Al Rayyan's stadium's location is at the edge of the desert city that doesn't tolerate waste. The design of the stadium use wastewater for irrigation.
Also the advanced technology in this stadium help in energy saving. From the very first step of the renovation, Al Rayyan Stadium project works on sustainability to build a green building. The eco-friendly stadium will offer many benefits to locals in the future.
During the renovation, many waste material of already existed building has been used by the contractors. The builders use some of the old material as a piece of rustic art in the renovated stadium. Nearly 80% of the construction materials are being reused or recycled.
Further, the old trees around the venue have been retained for new planting. There is minimum wastage during the renovation of the stadium. There is planning to place a carbon footprint that will work as the metro connection to Qatar Rail.
