Qatar weather can be broadly classified into two main seasons: (May to October) when the weather is hot and (December to February) when it is cool. March, April and November are transitional months, with the weather being hot, but tolerable.

 

In general, Qatar has an arid climate, with mild, pleasant winters and hot, humid summers. Sandstorms and dust storms are almost regular. In case of any natural disasters, adhere to the advice of local authorities and keep following the media updates.

The archetypal tropic climate and weather in Doha features tropic weather that is hot summers during the period May to October, when the weather is dry and breezy. Winter is rather comfortable with slight chillness.

There may be occasional rains in winter, with the region experiencing a high degree of humidity.

Best time to plan visit to Qatar

Qatar has hot and arid climate, with maximum heat experienced in summers. To avoid climatic extremities, the best time to visit Qatar is between November and early April. These months are winter and early spring season. Such climatic conditions permit outdoor activities and sight-seeing across the country and these are regarded as peak-tourist season in Qatar.

The period November to March will see cool weather, with evenings being more pleasant. January is the coolest month with temperatures ranging from 140C to 220C.  Temperatures begin to climb after January and towards March, the average temperature touches 240C.

Having said that the November to early April is the best time to visit Qatar, it should also be pointed out that rainfall, although scarce, can occur during this period too. The rains that come this season can be heavy cloudbursts and thunderstorms.

Avoid visiting Qatar during the over-temperature period of May to October. July is the hottest month with temperatures reaching the range 320C to 430C, although it can also happened that the mercury may touch 500C too. Thereafter, after October, things being to cool and by November, expect an average high of 240C.

Being a small, flat country, Qatar has little regional variation in the weather, despite the coastal areas being slightly cooler than inland. Further, as Doha is completely urbanized, the weather in Doha may be slightly hotter than it is.

What is the coldest month in Qatar?

The winter season is from December to February, with temperatures being mild and the sky is often clear. Therefore, this is a spring-like season. There can be some cool and windy days, particularly in January, with temperatures sometimes dipping below 10 °C (50 °F).

January is the coldest month in Doha, Qatar, with an average high-temperature of 21.7°C (71.1°F) and an average low-temperature of 12.8°C (55°F). Temperatures begin to climb after January and towards March, the average temperature touches 240C.

Does it rain in Qatar?

Months with rainfall are January through MayOctober through December. February is the month with the most rainfall in Doha, Qatar. There is less rainfall during the winter months. But, every now and then some rains do occur during the spring season, however, it hardly rains in summer. The rains in Qatar are mostly brief spells, but, sometimes heavy so as to fill the wadis, the river-beds, which remain dry otherwise most of the year.
