19 June 2020

Qatar Airways has not wavered in its commitment to the US market throughout this global pandemic crisis. While all other airlines from the Gulf suspended operations, Qatar Airways continued to work with the US Government and the airports to take more than 160,000 stranded people home from Africa, India, Australasia and the Middle East.

The national carrier of Qatar now proudly confirmed resumption of its flights to the US destinations from 19th June. Flights to New York starts from 19th June, going upto 10 weekly flights from July 2nd. Flights to other destinations such as Boston, Washington Dulles and Los Angeles will be from 1st July.

The airline’s US network rebuild will grow to 39 weekly flights by mid-July 2020.

Given the strong existing partnerships with JetBlue and American Airlines in place, the restarting of these flights come with greater benefits to Qatar Airways passengers.

At present, the services to Dallas-Forth Worth and Chicago helps passengers in booking onward travel with American Airlines to nearly 180 destinations on more than 350 domestic flights every day. This will increase to 600 or more daily flights with inclusion of New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Washington Dulles.

The New York flights and five-weekly Boston flights by Qatar Airways will also facilitate resumptions of the JetBlue codeshare. Passengers can now immediately book travel across the whole JetBlue network to 46 destinations on 70 flights per day.

The Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, HE Akbar Al Baker, said that ever-since the pandemic outbreak the Qatar Airways has completely focused on bringing people home, and has closely worked with governments across the world to ensure that stranded nationals are able to travel home safely.

The repatriation efforts by the airways has been much appreciated, Al Baker pointed out.

The airways has maintained most advanced safety and hygiene measures on board in its aircraft and in Hamad International Airport. Passengers flying Business Class on Qsuite equipped aircraft can use the enhanced privacy of this award-winning suite, including sliding privacy partitions and fully closing doors that help maintain privacy.

Qsuite is available on flights to more than 30 destinations including London, Singapore, Sydney and Dallas-Forth Worth, with more routes being added this summer.

Qatar Airways has now further improved on-board safety measures for its cabin crew and passengers. It has introduced PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) suits for cabin crew while aboard, and a modified service to reduce interactions between passengers and the crew inflight.

Wearing of masks inflight is mandatory for passengers. The airline has also further extended its booking policies, offering better choice to its passengers.

All tickets booked for travel until 31st December 2020 will be valid for two years from date of issuance.
