02 September 2023

The Expo 2023 Doha Horticultural Exhibition is all set to open doors on 2nd October, confirmed Mohamed Ali Al Khoury, Secretary General of Expo.

Speaking to the media, Al Khoury said that the expo requires up to 3000 volunteers. He also said that the Organizing Committee of Expo 2023 Doha has received several applications for volunteering from Qatar and abroad.

“The interviews have been conducted with volunteers. We are trying to give opportunities to maximum number of people to benefit from the experience of this huge event,” Al Khoury said.

Furthermore, he said that several people who participated as volunteers in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 also wanted to join the Expo 2023 Doha.

“We received more than 60,000 applications for volunteering from Qatar,” Al Khoury said, adding that all GCC countries are among the 80 participating countries and they will have their own pavilion and garden at Al Bidda Park.

Expo 2023 Doha is held inline with the guiding principles of Qatar National Vision 2030, and is led by Ministry of Municipality. It puts environmental management and sustainable development as its priority.

The expo runs for 179 days from 2nd October, until 28th March 2024, and aims to reach over three million visitors. Expo 2023 Doha offers guests the opportunity to visit ornamental gardens, live shows, attend public debates, conferences and enjoy art and culinary performances.

The six-month long event is the first A1 International Horticultural Exhibition to be held in the MENA region. It will be held in a dedicated area spanning 1.7million square metres in Al Bidda Park, facing the azure waters of Arabian Gulf.

The Expo, which is held in collaboration with Bureau Internationale Des Expositions (BIE) and International Association for Horticultural Producers (AIPH), will draw international visitors and organizers from over 80 countries, private sector representatives, NGOs and general public.

The theme of Expo 2023 Doha is “Green Desert, Better Environment”, as it encourages sustainable innovation and reduce desertification.

It will engage visitors physically, emotionally and intellectually, inspiring them to participate in the change through topics such as Modern Agriculture, Environmental Awareness and Sustainability apart from Technology and Innovation.
