Doha International Trade Fair
The Doha International Trade Fair (DTF) is Qatar’s biggest shopping carnival, held at Qatar International Exhibitions Center, Doha. The fair is organized by the Qatar Tourism Authority in collaboration with Maraya Public Relations and is held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Khalifa, Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The 10 day annual event involves participation of traders from across the globe and visitors have the chance to find remarkable brands from international exhibitors. The main products on the display are electronics, leather products, handicrafts, footwear, furniture, stationary, jewelry, books, antiques, designer clothing, carpets, glassware, giftware, toys and health products.
With several products and services being showcased under a single roof, The International Trade Fair Doha is the right opportunity for ardent shopaholics. The trade fair has helped in promoting Qatar further as a tourist destination and there are a range of local and international brands offering discounts which makes shopping during the event more terrific. The 2013 DTF featured over 550 renowned exhibitors from 30 different countries, showcasing and selling a wide range of products varying from household items, gadgets, toys, perfume and cosmetics, electronics, to clothes and food.
There is an international cultural show organized during the trade fair which is also quite popular among the trade fair visitors. Children and families will enjoy the electrifying entertainment in the specially built ‘Fun Zone’. The main highlight of the 2013 DTF is an Entertainment Tent that staged music performances and live shows in addition to the two restaurants that offered visitors an authentic taste of traditional Qatari cuisine.
Thanks to a separate 3,000 sqm fun zone which featured inflatables, a family of mascots, face painting, and a parade which made kids completely occupied in last year DTF.
A representative from Guinness World Records Limited adjudicated the game which was played on a UK Parker Brothers MONOPOLY board. An exciting series of MONOPOLY games was held and teams of two competed against each other on the exclusive MONOPOLY board to gain as many MONOPOLY points as possible. MONOPOLY game is based on buying Properties by landing on the property and answering the given question correctly. Points are gained by owning properties and charging other teams rent payment when landing on them. Question topics will cover: art, geography, culture, sport, history and general knowledge.

Doha International Trade Fair 2014
Rechristened as 'The World Trade Festival 2014', the 10-day fair which used to take place at the Doha Exhibitions Center until last year, is being held in a different venue, reasonably, to overcome the ongoing construction works in the West Bay area as well as the parking and other traffic related problems. The shopping festival was officially inaugurated by the Vice Chairman of the Qatar chamber, Mohammed bin Tawar Al Kuwari in the presence of personages from different organizations.
Apart from international companies, the fair has participation from large number of local firms from various sectors, including representation from small enterprises manufacturing handcrafts and other household items. The fair organizers allocated 24 shops at discounted prices to several regional companies and community institutions providing them the opportunity to market their products and compete with international players. Nearly 200 companies from 25 countries participated in the 2014 shopping-cum-entertainment festival. A wide variety of quality products were available for sale at over 250 stalls. Most of the products available at the fair are fashion and accessories, followed by household items, perfumes, cosmetics, furniture and décor items, readymade garments and various food products.
Various cultural events and programmes were organized for children and adults, which included performances by various bands such as Filipino acrobatic magician band, Palestinian, Iranian and Egyptian folklore. The performances took place every day from 3pm to 10pm until the last day. There were also gifts provided for all visitors to the festival.
