16 December 2021

The Qatari Government has announced that 19th December 2021 will be an official holiday on the occasion of Qatar National Day. However, the National Day celebrations will be held on Saturday, the 18th December 2021.

The Qatar National Day celebrations Organizing Committee has announced a series of activities to be held across Qatar on the occasion of National Day and these will be held on 18th December.

This year, the National Day activities will be held across various locations including Al Wakrah Old Souq, Al Rami Sports Club, Aspire Park and Qatar Foundation, enabling nationals and expats to participate in them.

The National Day 2021 activities will be held under the slogan ‘Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust’, which is based on the poetry of the Founder of Qatar, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.

Live screening of the activities will be done on giant screens at these locations where these events would be held. A group of cars carrying the Qatari flags would be distributed at the venues where the events are held, and this adds to the beauty of the place, and affirms adherence to national identity.

Furthermore, Al Wakrah Old Souq is also hosting several activities and competitions which include folk games such as ‘Sad o Rad’, ‘Bar o Bahr’ and ‘Keram’, which brings out the spirit of participation and competition among children. These activities will be held at the beach of the Souq from 14th to 18th December 2021.
