Qatar lines-up range of entertainment events for FIFA World Cup 2022

Qatar will host a wide range of cultural and family entertainment options during the forthcoming FIFA World Cup, to be held from 20th November to 18th December.

A country-wide festival comprising over 90 special events are likely to be held alongside the tournament, which marked its 100-day countdown. The major events will feature match-viewing areas, cultural displays, music festivals and street performances.

Among the centrepiece entertainment offered by the country during the FIFA World Cup, would be the Corniche, that will have a carnival atmosphere along the stretch of 6km route, stretching from Sheraton Hotel to the Museum of Islamic Art Park. 

It will feature roving performances, food and beverage stalls, cultural activities and retail outlets. Over 120,000 people will be able to visit Corniche during the peak time.

Viewers who gather to watch the match, will also have access to a host of entertainment options within the vicinity of eight stadiums.

The ‘Last-Mile Cultural Activation’ will feature more than 6000 performances in 21 locations. Among the special highlights are crafts and heritage, visual arts, fashion and design, music and film screenings and performance art.

The FIFA Fan Festival at Al Bidda Park, located away from the stadiums, will show every match live and will include stage performances, cultural activities, food and beverage outlets and sponsor activations.

The FIFA Fan Festival will open on 20th November and will have the capacity to accommodate 40,000 visitors. Apart from this, fan zones, will be hosted in Al Khor and Industrial Area, with more details to be announced soon. 

Fans get to enjoy theme park rides and other attractions at Al Maha Island Lusail, including circus performances and ice skating. Further, there will be a beach club, and a range of food and beverage options including high-end and casual dining.

Visitors who enjoy music, can look forward to ‘Arcadia Spectacular Dance Music Festival’ to be held near Ras Bu Fontas Metro Station, which can accommodate up to 15,000 people, while ‘MDLBEAST’, another music event to be held in Al Wakrah can accommodate up to 5000 fans.
The ‘974 Beach Club’ is another tourist hotspot, which is located in proximity to 974 Stadium, offering music, food and beverage options, activities, and retail stalls for about 10,000 guests. 

Furthermore, ‘Lusail Boulevard’, located in proximity to stadium, will host the FIFA World Cup final, and will stage street performances for nearly 50,000 people daily.

A variety of cultural and entertainment activities will be available for fans across key tourist destinations in the country, including Katara Cultural Village, Souq Waqif, Museums and Msheireb Downtown Doha.
