Building design of the stadium

The stadium is designed by British firm Foster + Partners, they keep in mind the region’s tradition and takes inspiration from Arab architecture. There will be capacity for 80,000 spectators once complete. It will be the largest stadium of the FIFA World Cup.

According to the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), the construction of the stadium is about 90 percent complete.

When talking about design, the stadium has almost circular base that will be surrounded by a moat. Further, the six bridges will connect it to the car park.

The saddle-form the roof of stadium looks like floating above the concrete seating bowl. The central section of this stadium allows the pitch to be open during match or fully covered after the tournament.

Parking areas are shaded by solar collectors, which will generate energy for the stadium as well as for neighboring buildings.

Sustainability of Lusail Stadium

The location of this stadium chosen by the project managers in such a way allows fans to travel from upgraded roads. There are options of the Doha Metro, shuttle buses and ride sites via which fans can reach the stadium.

The stadium will be based on sustainable building practices. It will be best example of construction waste recycling. The recycled water will be used to irrigate plants around the stadium.

Throughout the Lusail city, there will be smart energy meters that will conserve energy. Also, organic waste from stadium and near about areas will be collected for making biomass fuel.

There will be greenery everywhere which will actively improve the air quality of the area. After the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Lusail Stadium will be transformed into a public space. There will be schools, shops, cafés, health clinics and sporting facilities.

To transform it according to new amenities, some of the stadium's seats will be donated to sporting projects.

This multi-purpose community space will help locals in many ways. It will allow people to find everything under one roof.
