Khalifa International Stadium is also is known as the National Stadium of Qatar. It is a multi-purpose stadium in Doha. The stadium is named after the former Emir of Qatar, Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani.

This 40,000 seating capacity stadium welcomed the Gulf Cup, Asian Games, the AFC Asian Cup, and many more sports events.  It is the home ground to the Qatar national football team. After three years of the makeover the stadium is ready to welcome 2022 FIFA World Cup. The stadium will witness few quarter-final matches of the quadrennial event.

Renovation of Khalifa International Stadium

In the year 1997, Qatar Athletic Super Grand Prix, the annual track and field event, was held in this stadium. Now, it is a part of the IAAF Diamond League. Further, this league also hosted by Khalifa International Stadium.

In 2006 the Asian Games have held in this stadium. On 14 November 2009, the stadium hosted international football match between Brazil and England.

The stadium was used mostly for Football matches before its renovation, but it includes facilities for many other sports like track and field events.
